Northburn 100 Miler – New Zealand

You don’t race it, you survive it! These are the words from race director, Terry Davis and sure enough they couldn’t be more true.

Last year runners battled sub zero temperature and snow capped summits, this year it was gail forced winds in excess of 150km/h coupled with near zero degrees and yes you guessed it I was out there amongst the action, trying to anchor myself to the earth to capture these ultra runners battle through the elements.

With Marty Lukes taking the 100miler out in an impressive 22hr09mins, Shona Stephenson 1st Women across in the wee hours of Sunday morning in 24hr46mins and Matty Abel absolutely stomping across the line to take line honours in the 100km in 11hr59mins.
